Make Your Plans
Tours are generally scheduled for weekends, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You and up to 11 friends will cover a lot of ground–up to 1.5 miles on foot–so it’s wise to wear comfortable shoes and bring some sunscreen. Tours cost $50 per participant.
The Tour
The tour will lead you through five different locations to experience the most unique offerings from each purveyor. You may chow down on a Cuban sandwich by the riverside, then reach far into the land’s history for some genuine Tex-Mex. As you explore the city, your guides will also lead you by cultural landmarks and introduce you to some local arts for a better understanding of the communities that call San Antonio home.

Much of the food we call “Tex-Mex” was derived from cooking traditions that developed in-place for thousands of years. The original inhabitants of the region pioneered a variety of delicious recipes that we see all around Texas today. With the arrival of the Spanish in the region, Texas saw the introduction of pork, frying in oil, and other contributions from Europe and beyond. Now people from coast to coast can enjoy steaming hot chiles rellenos, corn tortillas, chile con carne, and more.
