Mix It Up With These Unique Yoga Classes This Summer


For those who enjoy yoga, San Antonio is a pretty great place to live. The city is home to a broad variety of studios that offer both public and private classes to practitioners of nearly any skill level. But if you think every yoga class in the Alamo City is the same, think again. San Antonio features some terrific options for those looking for a different – sometimes more challenging – way to bring unity to body, mind, and soul.

Whether you’re native to the city or just visiting, check out some of these unique classes found around the area.

Yoga At Mission San Jose

Step out of the studio and into the sun with this outdoor yoga class sponsored by the National Park Service and San Antonio Missions. This class is free and teaches a vinyasa flow in the heart of the historic San Antonio Missions, located at 6710 San Jose Dr.

The next class is on Saturday, June 8 at 9 am.

Aerial Yoga

This is a fairly new form of yoga that combines traditional poses with pilates and dance. Yet, rather than performing this exercise from the grounds, practitioners are suspended in the air using a sling. While that may sound a bit advanced, the truth is that aerial yoga is great for beginners and experts alike. In fact, the support of the sling can sometimes help novice yogis achieve more difficult positions.

Drop-in classes are offered at Aerial Yoga Boerne, located at 37131 IH10 West Frontage Rd Suite 300-2. A second location, Aerial Yoga San Antonio, provides reservation only classes. You’ll find it at 300 E Grayson St #100.

Power 60 At Half Moon Yoga

If you really want to sweat it out, then you’ll want to check out the hot yoga classes offered at Half Moon Yoga. These classes teach Baptiste yoga in a sweltering 90-degree studio for a steaming workout that will leave you refreshed and invigorated. The Power 60 class, which is open to those of all levels, is offered Tuesday through Sunday. Half Moon offers both drop-ins and memberships.

Stand-Up Paddle Board Yoga At Country Hill Paddle

SUP Yoga is a fun and challenging approach that teaches vinyasa style while floating on top of a paddleboard in a calm body of water. This class provides you with a totally new yoga experience and helps focus you on perfecting your balance. You’ll find SUP classes at Country Hill Paddle at Boerne Lake. Bowspring Yoga
